Your Honeymoon Experience!
My husband and I visited Daios Cove for our honeymoon and had a truly wonderful experience from start to finish!
Our room was superb (a one bedroom suite with private terrace and pool) and a view to die for. You don't expect a place to look like it does in the pictures but at this hotel what you see on the website is even better in real life!
The thing that really struck us at this hotel was the effort from the staff, they were all extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had breakfast delivered to our room one morning and also a three course meal on the terrace one evening. We felt like royalty!
We own a business in the UK so couldn't go long haul on honeymoon so Daios Cove was a perfect retreat for anyone looking for a five star experience without spending a day to get there!
Regarding the food we enjoyed the Pangea (buffet style) as they had different cuisines each night (fish night, Italian night etc.), good selection especially the fresh salads and desserts! Local wine was good and not too pricey (about 20 euro a bottle). We loved the Greek Taverna for lunch and dinner also (you pay a small supplement to eat here but it's worth it!) lovely fresh produce again I thought very reasonable in price.
We went all out on this holiday ordering wine every night (and sometimes at lunch!!!) cocktails every night before dinner and most days we ordered room service for lunch (fresh prawns, Greek salads, homemade hamburgers etc) we did this for 8 days and nights and spent under €900 which I believe is very reasonable considering everything we ate and drank.
I must also recommend the spa (we had a wonderful couples massage) and also spend one unwinding in the spa when the weather wasn't too good (2 cloudy days out of 8). People complain about the pool - us was fine, a bit chilly to get into in but so s the sea!
Once you're in it's fine nd very relaxing!
In summary I would lime to say:
Views are breathtaking (like James bond film)
Staff are exceptional and so friendly and helpful
Food is excellent (we didn't have a bad meal and tried every eatery at the resort)
So what more do you need for a nice relaxing break away? Well I suppose guaranteed glorious sunshine but you can't hold the hotel responsible for that!
We will most definitely return to this special place!
Well done Daios Cove!
My fiancée and I went to Daios Cove as a pre-wedding 'honey-moon' in the first week of June 2013 after seeing a online deal … and obviously reading the online reviews!
Everything which has already been said about the rooms, hotel, beach, food etc, I would totally agree with. As we were on our 'honey-moon' we wanted some affordable luxury, and we weren't disappointed. The spa is well worth a visit for some extra pampering; we had a Cretan experience couples massage which lasted for about two hours and was (IMO) well worth the money (about 200 euro's). The staff was also extremely helpful, polite and obliging.
We had also had a private pool, and despite what some (obviously nesh) reviewers say on here, the temperature is just right. Who wants a heated/warm pool when the temperature is in the 80's - 90's?!
Another note; the town of Agios Nikolaos is well worth a visit and only 15 minutes We went to Piato restaurant, which was great. A view of the sea, and authentic Greek dishes served by extremely friendly staff.
We would definitely return to Daios Cove, and are already looking out for deals to go back next year!Trip advisor link
…To receive such an upgrade was enough to make our holiday, but the resort consistently surprised and delighted us with thoughtful and romantic gestures: bottles of wine in the room, fresh fruit platters, the wet spa day, roses and other romantic gestures were appreciated by us both more than words can truly express. But the genuine delight of the staff in the news of our engagement made the smile on Yvonne's face grow broader every time she shared the news!
Where do I start...? Saturday 22nd June was without doubt the best day of both our life's.
After breakfast we relaxed on the beach until about 3:30, the catamaran was in Daios Cove all afternoon so I was taking a few pictures and also saying "how cool would it be to go sailing on that" to Marta, she of course had no idea we were going to! I then said "Marta, we need to go" "why, it's only 3:30" she replied.
We went up to reception and one of your team then escorted us down to the watersports desk, (Marta still had no idea). So at this point I had to tell her I think we're going on that! She was petrified and shaking like a leaf. After a few minutes on the boat she calmed down as we set off, it really was perfect.
I had the ring hidden in the bottom of my small bag ,which I had with me. We then stopped at a beautiful little spot where we were jumping off the boat and swimming in the open sea, it gets better and better. I then quickly got back on to the boat whilst Marta was swimming, grabbed my bag and went and stood on the front of the boat and called Marta up. As she arrived I went down on one knee and asked her to marry me, she answered "Yes" after savouring the moment for a few seconds and making me sweat!!!
The captain then got the champagne and canapes out, which were amazing, smoked salmon and caviar and macaroons, which was really amazing for us as we both love macaroons!! We go to Harrods especially to buy Laduree macaroons whenever we are in London! And yours were better!
Sailing back we finished the bottle of champagne and canapes as the sun was setting. We then quickly got changed in our room before heading off to Daios panorama for our meal. Anna had prepared the area beautifully with candles and drapes where we had our meal, which again was perfect. We didn't want the day to end.
The food was fantastic we had Dorado fish, which neither of us had before. The rest of the evening I will keep private! We both had the time of our life's at Daios Cove, the whole 9 days were everything we wanted and dreamed of, we really didn't want to leave.
All we can say is a massive THANK YOU!, to you Julia, Anna for being such a perfectionist, and to all of your team who were involved.
We will without doubt be returning to Daios Cove one day.
