DAIOS COVE RESTAURANTS IN CRETE WELCOME CHEF KARIME LÓPEZ
Born and raised in Mexico, Karime López began her journey in top international kitchens with experience first in the three Michelin starred Can Fabes in Spain followed by the thought-provoking, poetic cuisine of Mugaritz in the Basque Country. Karime further honed her passion for culinary excellence at Pujol, the renowned cult hotspot in Mexico City. Learning and constantly evolving her culinary skills under the tutelage of Japanese Chef Seiji Yamamoto, Karime then worked at Central in Lima, Peru resurrecting indigenous techniques and ingredients of New Peruvian Cuisine.
Karime López is currently Co-Executive Chef, together with her husband Kondo ‘Taka’ Takahiko, of the first Gucci Osteria in Florence, Italy. The restaurant gained its first Michelin star in 2020 – firmly establishing Karime as the first female Mexican chef ever to be awarded a Michelin star.
